How to Replace the Touchpad
Before you begin:
Remove the base enclosure and battery.
Removal
Using minimal force, lift the locking bar up on the touchpad ZIF connector
and disconnect the touchpad ribbon cable from the touchpad.
Remove the two rubber pads that cover the touchpad.
Remove the three P000 Phillips-head screws
that secure the touchpad bracket over the touchpad.
Remove the touchpad bracket and set it aside for later replacement.
Lift up the black mylar that covers the touchpad
to reveal the screws that are located at the top of the touchpad.
Remove the three P00 Phillips-head screws that secure the touchpad to the top cover.
Remove the touchpad.
Replacement
Place the touchpad into position on the top cover.
While holding the black mylar, replace the three P00 Phillips-head screws
that secure the touchpad to the top cover.
Place the black mylar over the touchpad,
ensuring that the keyboard ribbon cable is on top of the black mylar.
Place the touchpad bracket over the touchpad.
Replace the three P000 Phillips-head screws
that secure the touchpad bracket over the touchpad.
Place the two rubber pads into position on the touchpad.
Insert the touchpad ribbon cable into its ZIF connector on the touchpad
and press the locking bar down to lock the cable into place.
